Dorian's Parlor April
Dorian's Parlor brings a fresh new lineup for the upcoming April event. A monthly Steampunk event held at Ormandy Ballroom of the Doubletree in downtown Philadelphia, Dorian’s Parlor takes a little something from every genre and weaves them into a fantastic new spectacle that is uniquely Steampunk. Patrons dance, sip cocktails, enjoy hors d'oeuvres and partake in a one-of-its-kind lineup of bands, DJs, dancers and high fashion from the foremost neo-vintage designers. Nowhere else but Philadelphia can you find an event of this caliber and scale.
Since its debut in June 2010, Dorian’s Parlor has grown into one of the most anticipated monthly events around. It has been highlighted in media outlets such as The Philadelphia Inquirer, Geekadelphia, Culturemob, City Suburban News, Philadelphia Weekly and the Steampunk Tribune. The April lineup features the famed Steampunk icon and author G.D. Falksen as MC. Sxip Shirey, who has toured with Evelyn & Evelyn and featured solo performances at Boston Symphony Hall, headlines with unique orchestration and a clutch of curious objects, including Industrial Flutes, Obnoxiophone and Human Beatbox. This month’s fashion show features the renowned Twin Bee Design Studio, and Ak'Ana will entertain with their unique brand of Tribal Fusion Bellydance. Local favorite band Platform One, who has performed at festivals such as Blacksun, Darkstar, and the NY Synthpop festival and appeared with such acts as Bella Morte, The Echoing Green and Ottos Daughter, bring their special flavor of Gothic Synthpop to this Steampunk Event. Portrait photography by Hugh Casey will help memorialize your fantastic finery, and through it all DJ Kiltboy will keep the dance floor moving. All aspects of the event’s production — lighting, sound, stage design and production management — are provided by Philadelphia’s own CircuitSix, LLC (www.circuitsix.biz) as part of their ongoing sponsorship and patronage of Dorian's Parlor.
The next 21+ event will be held Saturday, April 16th, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., in the Ormandy Ballroom of the DoubleTree Hotel, on the Avenue of the Arts in downtown Philadelphia. Admission is $25, and includes a drink ticket and hors d’oeuvres.
